Loving mother, grandmother, and volunteer. She was a staple at Jordan Catholic from the mid-1970s until the early 2000s throughout her career as a librarian and a volunteer after her retirement. In addition, she was also an active volunteer at Friendship Manor retirement community where she was caring and attentive with the residents. In her late years, she leaned into one of her hobbies, and crocheted blankets for those she held near and dear.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am at St. Pius X, on Monday, May 1st, followed by burial at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to Jordan Catholic School under her name, or consider reading a book, completing a word search, playing a game of Scrabble or euchre with your loved ones, taking a moment to appreciate the stars, or making a phone call to someone you haven't spoken to recently. I can't believe it's been two years, I think I see you in public now and then. I smile when I realize it can't be you. When the weather changes, and my head gets full from the pressure, I think of you again as I know it plagued you as well. Seeing a BBQ sandwich (maidrite) makes me think of school hot lunches in the 80s and you were there. Are you chatting with Debbie about what came of all of your students? Your love and advice is missed, but I will not forget you Dear Carol.

We moved to the neighborhood 2 yrs ago, and Fred & Carol welcomed us and made us feel right at home. Mrs. Carol taught one of my daughters how to crochet, and we spent many afternoons in her living room chatting and crocheting. She encouraged my other daughter in her love for art, and loved it when we would stop by and visit. Mrs. Carol made many baby blankets for Pregnancy Resources for their New Baby Bags that they give to expectant moms in the quad cities. Her life and legacy will live on for generations. She made a deep lasting impact in our lives.

As a child, Mrs. Koester was my school librarian and my friends mom. She was there for everything from hot lunches, school masses, paper sorting, deliveries, hand holding, recess supervising, story telling, and book reading to name a few of her many jobs that I remember. Carol was always in my life, my children grew up with her grandchildren and she was an integral part of our lives. My kids knew her as Mrs. Koester, but very much as a grandmotherly role. They have fond memories after school with her and I have years and years worth of conversations, advice and love from her. I am truly grateful and blessed for having been loved by her. She means the world to me and my family.
Thinking of you all right now during this time of deep sorrow.
Love you Carol

Mrs. Koester was a wonderful part of Jordan School. She was great with both the kids and the parents. May she rest in peace.
