Caroline Lang Obituary

Caroline "Pook" Wills Hinze Lang

September 7, 1941-January 28, 2022

Caroline "Pook" Wills Hinze Lang passed away on January 28, 2022 in Littleton, CO while surrounded by her loving family. Sweet Caroline was born on September 7, 1941 in Rock Island, IL to Theodore and Elizabeth Hinze. She was predeceased by her husband of twenty-nine years, Gary Mitchell and a sister, Frances Hinze Segura. She is survived by her son, Theodore Lang and her daughter, Amanda Lang, her brothers, Carl Hinze, Moore, SC and Theodore Hinze, Rock Island, IL. Also, her cat, Gallagher.

Caroline graduated from Rock Island High School and Augustana College. With a kind heart and gentle hands, she went on to have a long career as a nurse and medical technologist, and was well-known for her absolutely painless blood-draws.

A child of God, Caroline found her home-away-from-home at St. Gregory's Episcopal Church. Here she became one of the longest standing members of the choir, sharing her voice loud and proud for over thirty-five faithful years. This was also where she became famous for her gregarious hugs, embracing anybody and everybody she met with warmth and loving acceptance.

Caroline also adored animals and nature. Over the years, she raised everything from dogs and fish to bees and cats. When she wasn't planting new flowers in her garden or picking fruit from her trees, she could be found revving her chainsaw to cut her own firewood or attending to her thriving backyard beehives. As the "Bee Lady", she loved to share the honey she harvested with friends and family, cheerfully busy and buzzing like her favorite insects.

Every year, as a family tradition, Caroline faithfully prepared chicken and dumplings to celebrate the birthdays of her two children. She, and she alone, knew the precise ratio of eggs to flour, making each dumpling perfect and bursting with love.

Like her favorite song by Neil Diamond, "Sweet Caroline" was sweet to the end and her shining light will be deeply missed.

Her ashes are interred in the community columbarium at St. Gregory's Episcopal Church. Those who wish to share cherished memories of Caroline may do so at https://everloved.com/life-of/caroline-lang/.
