SILVIS-Cipriana Alvarez Esparza, 55, of Silvis, IL, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022 at UnityPoint Trinity, Bettendorf, IA.
Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday, December 3, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where a Rosary will be recited at 2:00 p.m. In accordance with her wishes, cremation will be accorded following the visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to St. Mary Catholic Church, Moline.
Cipriana was born November 2, 1967 in Canatlan, Durango, Mexico, a daughter of Antonio Alvarez Salazar and Manuela Esparza Garcia. She married Francisco Retana Marin on December 25, 1985 in Mexico.
She was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She also was a cook at Discovery Kidz Learning Center for 15 years.
She was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Moline, and the Los Cursillistas de los Quad Cities. Her faith and family were very important to her. Some of her favorite times were those spent with family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed knitting and shopping.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Francisco; children, Alejandra (Belino) Marin Alvarez, Dalia (Joel) Marin Alvarez, Rubi (Brandon) Marin Alvarez, Magnolia (Daltyn) Marin Alvarez, and Didier (Joanna) Marin Alvarez; grandchildren, Jonathan, Mia, Alannah, David, Daniel, Melani, Atalia, Anastasia, Amiya, Nya and Diego; mother, Manuela Esparza Garcia; siblings, Jesus Alvarez Esparza and Celia Torres Esparza; and many nieces, nephews, and other family.
Cipriana was preceded in death by her father Antonio; four grandchildren; grandmothers, Cipriana Alvarez Salazar and Juana Garcia Hernandez; and one brother, Juan Manuel Franco Esparza.
