Daniel J. Cumberworth

Dan was born July 10, 1960 in LaSalle, Illinois, the son of James E. and H. Aline (Lathrop) Cumberworth, Sr. Dan grew up in Moline and attended elementary school at St. Mary, Moline. Dan went to Moline High School where he excelled at shot put and football. This led to a scholarship that allowed him to attend Massanutten Military Academy in Virginia. He attended William Penn College in Iowa. Dan was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Dan worked at various jobs throughout his life, including employment with Dekalb Seed Company in Mason City, Illinois. For several years he drove a semi truck. Dan relocated to California in November of 1995.
Dan was very intelligent and charismatic, a combination that allowed him to make friends, no matter where. Dan loved sports and was a walking encyclopedia of facts going way back in history about football, basketball and baseball. Dan loved to read, and he enjoyed and appreciated nature. Dan loved his family.
Dan is survived by his siblings, Patricia (the late William) Duchaine, Bridget (the late Frank) Abbott, Colleen (the late Harlan) Morgan, Margaret Cumberworth-Bucher, Kathy (Kerry) Sommers, Theresa (Charles) Knipp, Mary Elizabeth (Steven) Hollars, Timothy (Bobbie), Terence (Bobbie), Robert (Claire), and Matthew (Becky). Dan is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Michael and James.
Dan was cremated in accordance with his wishes. Dan will be interred at a later date in Sarasota National Cemetery, Florida, beside his late brother-in-law, Harlan Morgan. A private memorial service to celebrate Dan's life will be held in the Quad Cities in late June.
