MOLINE-Darrel F. Parker, 90, of Moline, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Cedarhurst Assisted Living, Moline.
A memorial service will be 11:30am, Friday, March 18, 2022 with visitation from 11-11:30am prior to the service at Hope United Church of Christ, Moline. Memorials can be made to Hope United Church of Christ.
Darrel was born the son of Lynn H. and E. Marie Parker. He married Nancy E. Morrison on March 16, 1954 in Ames, IA. She preceded him in death on December 14, 1955. He married Eleanore J. Weaver on May 1, 1971 in Bettendorf. She preceded him in death on January 20, 2017.
Darrel graduated from high school at Henderson, IA in June of 1950. He graduated from Iowa State University College of Forestry with honors in June of 1954.
Darrel worked for the City of Lincoln, NE as their City Forester. In 1970, he went back to the college at Ames to work on Dutch Elm Disease Control and then on to Davey Tree Company as a forester. In 1971, he went to work for the Scott County Conservation Board as the superintendent of Parks for Scott County. In 1979, he was hired as supervisor of Parks for the City of Moline. He retired from there after 16 years. After retiring from Moline, He worked several summers for the Rock Island Park Department from there he went to the Law Firm of Lane and Waterman working there for 10 years as a manager of their mail room, also delivering legal mail to firms throughout Davenport.
While with the City of Moline, he was a member of the Moline Noon Kiwanis for over 10 years. He was also a member of the Hope United Church of Christ working wherever needed in the church.
Survivors include his step-son, Mark Weaver, son of Ele and Darrel's niece and her family at Hot Springs, AR and Dick and Phebe Head remain his dearest of friends. He was preceded in death by his wives, Nancy and Ele, brother, Dwight and their parents, Lynn and Marie Parker.
