Darryl Hixon

Darryl J. Hixon, 69, of Rock Island, Ill., passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at his home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Sacred Heart Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Rafferty Funeral Home, 2111-1st St A, Moline, Ill. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, East Moline, Ill. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Greater Rock Island County Bowling Association Scholarship Fund.
Darryl was born December 22, 1954, in Rock Island, the son of Robert and Alma (Braet) Hixon. He married Theresa "Teri" DeRuyck in 1983. She preceded him in death December 14, 2016.
Darryl was a 1972 graduate of Alleman High School. He retired from Office Machine Consultants, Rock Island, in March 2024. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Rock Island, Rock Island Moose, Associate Manager of Greater Rock Island County USBC, former President of Rock Island Bowling Association, Director of State of Illinois Bowling Association, Lifetime Member of Greater Rock Island County and State of Illinois Bowling Association and was inducted into the Illinois Bowling Association Half of Fame.
There was nothing more important to Darryl than spending time with his family and friends. Darryl was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan and enjoyed golfing. His sense of humor will be missed by many.
Survivors include his fiancée, Deborah Funk, Rock Island; children, Chris (Melisa) Wagler, Geneseo, Ill., Matthew (Tiffani) Lusson, Melbourne, Fla., and Michelle (Kevin) Buckles-Graham, Davenport, Iowa; grandchildren, Madeline, Haley, Samuel, Kaila (Trent), Zachary, Sadie (Chris), Colton (Lauren), Rae and Andrew; great-grandchildren, Cyrus, Lily, Mia, Kai and Lincoln; brother, Richard (Lila Jean) Keltner, Elgin, Ill., and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Hixon.
