ROCK ISLAND-David K. Rockwell, 72, of Rock Island, died Monday, March 20, 2023 at UnityPoint Health – Trinity, Rock Island. A funeral service will be 11 am Friday, March 24, 2023 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Visitation will be 4-7 pm Thursday, March 23, 2023 at the funeral home. Cremation rites will follow the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the Rock Island/Milan Booster Club, Rock Island/Milan Education Foundation or a charity of your choice.
David was born in Moline, Illinois on October 30, 1950, a son of Donald and Phyllis Nies Rockwell. He married Teresa Deines on February 26, 1972 in Port Byron, Illinois.
David graduated from Rock Island High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Augustana College, Rock Island.
David was the general manager for Hyman Furniture in Rock Island for 38 years. The last 11 years he has been the office manager for Bozeman Neighbour Patton & Noe LLP, Moline.
David was a huge Rock Island supporter and dedicated his life to serving children and athletes in the Rock Island/Milan School District. He served on the Rock Island/Milan School Board for nearly 20 years. He also served on the Illinois Association of School Boards for many years. He was a very active and proud supporter of the Rock Island/Milan Booster Club.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Teresa Rockwell, Rock Island; sons, Philip (Randi) Rockwell and Andrew (Megan) Rockwell, both of Rock Island; grandchildren, Rory Rockwell and Alex and Warren Rockwell; and brothers, Thomas (Marilyn) Rockwell, Coal Valley, Ill. and Daniel (Cathy) Rockwell, Sunrise, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James "Jim" Rockwell.
