Dennis A. Searl, 79, of Port Byron, Illinois died Monday, August 11, 2025 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice in Bettendorf, Iowa. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, August 18, 2025 at Zuma Cemetery, 25263 66th Ave N., Port Byron. Visitation will be from 9:00 am – 10:30 am prior to the service at Gibson – Bode Funeral Home, Port Byron. Memorials may be made to the Coe Lamb American Legion Post 421.

Dennis was born January 2, 1946 in Marshall, Minnesota, the son of Marion and Mary (Van Acker) Searl. Dennis graduated from Riverdale High School. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He married Elaine O'Hara on May 9, 1970. Dennis worked for Case as an assembler, retiring with 36 years of service. He was a member of the Coe Lamb American Legion Post 421 and Church of the Cross, Port Byron. He had a love for farming and helping on the family farm. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling and going to NASCAR races with his son Gary. He also enjoyed following his grandchildren's sports and activities.

Dennis is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Jamie VanDeWostine, Erie; daughter-in-law, Katie Searl, Bettendorf; sisters, Norene Searl, Hillsdale, Rosemary (Al) Swanson, Moline and grandchildren, Morgan, Cameron, Jennifer, Brett, and Bryce.
