MOLINE-Duane A. Braden, 85, of Moline, Illinois, died Sunday, July 18, 2021, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 24, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, immediately followed by a luncheon at Trimble Pointe. Visitation is 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to Preemption United Methodist Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Duane Albert Braden was born June 15, 1936, in Moline, to Albert and Eva (Zude) Braden. He married Elaine Newquist on June 8, 1957, in Preemption, Illinois. He earned a bachelor's degree from Western Illinois University.

Duane retired from First Federal Savings Bank in Davenport as Vice President and Controller, in 1996 after 38 years of employment. He also taught accounting at American Institute of Commerce at their night school. After retiring from the bank, he worked for Family Funeral Service for many years.

After retirement, he and his wife traveled throughout much of the United States and world, including five trips to Europe, plus Ireland, British Isles, Scandinavian countries, Alaska and Russia. They also enjoyed cruises to the Caribbean, the Panama Canal, and the Greek Isles.

Duane was very involved in music, especially at Preemption United Methodist Church. In 2013, he was honored by the church for 60 years of musical service. He was also the church organist for many years, retiring in 2016. He then was organist at Christ United Methodist Church in Silvis, Illinois, for 3 ½ years.

He wrote the words and music to "I See God" and "The Chapel Among the Trees". Both were sung at churches and weddings.

Duane is survived by his beloved wife of over 64 years, Elaine; three children, Doreen (fiancé Tim Ayers) Braden of Sherrard, Illinois, Teresa (Craig) Keller of Coal Valley, Illinois, and Kent (Tammy) Braden of Davenport, Iowa; four grandchildren, Erin (Pat) Harbaugh of Osco, Illinois, Brittany (Darren) Brown of Orion, Illinois, Ryan (fiancé Ava Michael) of Moline, and Sarah Braden of Davenport; and great-grandchildren, Kylee and Kamryn Brown, and Logan Harbaugh. He was preceded in death by his parents.
