Eldon F. Croegaert, of Mineral, Ill., passed away on November 14, 2025, at Woodridge in Geneseo, Ill.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., at Vandemore Funeral Home – Atkinson Chapel. Nick Billiet will officiate. A private inurnment will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will take place on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Vandemore Funeral Home – Atkinson Chapel, from 2 to 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Eldon Croegaert Memorial Fund and will be distributed amongst local charities. The family would like to invite everyone to a luncheon at the Gathering Place in Atkinson, Ill., following the memorial service at the funeral home.
Eldon Croegaert was born on April 2, 1943, the son of Raymond and Gertrude (Specht) Croegaert in Prophetstown, Ill. He graduated from Mineral High School in 1961. He met and married Debbie Billiet in 1966 and together they raised a beautiful family. Eldon owned and operated Mineral Oil and Goodyear Tire Store in Kewanee. Eldon also worked for Johnson Oil Company for many years. He was a member of the American Legion in Mineral, the Moose Lodge, and the 40 & 8. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and being outdoors.
Those left to cherish his memory include, his wife Debbie of Mineral, Ill.; sons, Darrin (Amy) Croegaert of Lakeland, Tenn., Cory (Dawn) Croegaert of Maryville, Tenn.; brother, Roland (Donna) Croegaert of Geneseo, Ill.; brother-in-law, Nick Billiet of East Moline, Ill.; sister-in-law, Genniene Billiet; grandchildren, Alec, Drew, Ella, Thorn, Madison, Ella Mae, and Kelsey; great-grandchildren, Wells, Caroline, and Sutton; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Gertrude; sister, Dolores (Bob) Hemauer.
The family would like to thank Woodridge and Compassus Hospice for their care of Eldon.
