Cyndi and I would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the entire Farley family. I had the privilege to work side by side with "Red" for 15 years, a person that changed my life forever. We had a unique relationship. We would discuss family matters, politics, unions, cars, music, money, the lame Hawkeys, the dominate Illini, life, and death.
He told me about his early days at school when he put a closed bottle of water into the schools wood stove and gave all the students a lesson in physics. He also showed me his driving skills when we left a job in Morrison on a snowy afternoon. I was the witness to him bouncing off of snow banks till I lost his headlights in my rearview mirror. Upon my return I witnessed the result of what a van, fully stocked with tools and material, looks like after such acrobatic driving. We continued on to Albany for a beer. We also used to treat each other to lunch on our birthdays. It was once a year I realized his appreciation of fine dining. Red was very respectful, sincere, and honest. He was my teacher in life . Apon his retirement, I was blessed to work with his son Mark. Well, there's a case where the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. He constantly worried about Sheryl, and proud of Mike and Mark. Joy was always the love of his life, but his driving skills explained her never having a driver's licence. My memories of our time together will remain special. God bless you Red. May God welcome you into his eternal kingdom with open arms.
