November 17, 1932-March 1, 2022

GENESEO-Gale N. "Sonnie" Reed, 89, of Geneseo, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Genesis Medical Center Illini Campus, Silvis.

Funeral services will be 11am, Friday, March 4, 2022, at Rafferty Funeral Home, 2111-1st St A, Moline, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island with Military Honors conducted by American Legion Post 246, Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Sonnie was born November 17, 1932 in Moline, the son of Harley and Opal (Byrd) Reed. He was a Rock Island High School graduated where he met his wife Millie. He married Mildred A. "Millie" (Kerler) Reed on June 19, 1954 in Moline. She preceded him in death on July 11, 2018.

Sonnie was a US Navy veteran having served on the USS Rochester during the Korean War. He attended the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. He retired from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 145, Moline. Sonnie a member of the Moose Lodge in Rock Island and Florida. He enjoyed golfing, all sports, and was an avid Rock Island Rocks fan.

Survivors include his daughters, Chris Ward, East Moline, Julie Richardson, Largo, FL, and Lisa Reed, Moline; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and a sister, Elenor Hill, Andover, IL. He was preceded in death by his son, David Reed.
