Yesterday

I used to work with Glenda at Struthers-Dunn years ago. We bowled on a league together for a year and had lots of fun! Glenda was a very sweet lady. My condolences to Michele and Scott and all her friends and families!

I have known Glenda 48 years. I met her when I was only 17 and worked with Mike (my boss) at Sears. I would drive to Davenport once a month for 1-2 hour lunch with the group. My drive was two up and two back. I loved the conversations with them. Lots of laughter. Our group was left with Glenda and myself. The last time I saw her was just a few weeks ago. I took her to lunch, she was saying how she hadn´t had a steak in some time.

We cried a little at the table and the next thing you knew we were laughing of old memories of years gone by. It was great to hear her laugh again. As I noticed how much she was enjoying her meal, saying how great it tasted. I asked the waitress to give me two more meals, just like it, to go.

When I took her home, I put the bags on the counter. In her Mom voice she said, "Don´t forget to take your bag, DaVonna." As if I was forgetting my lunch for school. She laughed when I said, "Glenda you sound like my mother." She was so grateful for the food. I helped her cut the food into pieces and we made several meals out of it. I stayed awhile, we sat there talking and laughing with hands moving and facial movements as I told her my silly things I had done over the years. She loved my stories. So different from her upbringing.

Then it circled back to her feeling lonely. I said that Mike had to go first to make a nice place for the day she will come. He´s just not ready for you yet. This may be new to him to figure it all out. I guess she felt like she needed to choose the paint colors, and help him with all the things he needs to get done.
That´s Glenda.

My love to both of you and your sweet family.

Thanks for sharing your life and family with me.
