MOLINE-Funeral services for James D. Dean, 79, of Moline, IL, will be 10 am Wednesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 4-7 pm Tuesday, at the funeral home, where a Masonic Service will be held at 6:30 pm. Jim passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.
Jim was born June 2, 1943, in Moline, IL, the son of Eidson and Lydia (Christianson) Dean. He married Jonell Vana July 4, 1964, in Moline, IL. He graduated from United Township High School class of 1962 and then began his apprenticeship. Jim worked as a Tool & Die Maker for 40 years retiring from Case New Holland in 2004. He also owned and operated Arrow Pest Control for 50 years. Jim was an avid fisherman and a member of the In Fisherman Club. In his earlier years he had coached his daughters' softball teams. He was a member of the Doric Lodge 319 A.F. & A.M. He also enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Jonell Dean, Moline; daughters, Dr. Julie Dean (Todd) McCurdy, Moline, and Jennifer (Kurt) Maertens, Moline; grandchildren, Macy McCurdy, Hadley and Jase Maertens.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.vanhoe.com.

My grandparents used to live by the Deans and I grew up going over to play with Jenny. Jim and Jonell were always nice and welcoming when I came over. I am so sorry for your loss and my deepest sympathies to you all.
