June 19, 1962 - November 21, 2025
James "Jimmy" DePorter, 63, of Moline, IL, passed away peacefully Friday, November 21, 2025, at home surrounded by his loved ones. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Our Lady of Grace Parish, St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline, IL, Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, where a rosary will be recited at 3 p.m.
Jim was born June 19, 1962, in Moline the son of Urban "Mouse" and Jackie Blunke DePorter. He was a generous dedicated hard worker who never met a stranger. He spent over 40 years making Homewood Manor Apartments in Moline the best in the Quad Cities, as the General Manager (ARM). He was on the Board of Directors for Crime Stoppers for 10 years, serving as President for several years. He and the love of his life, Brenda Gamboe loved going to concerts and fishing at Lake Rathbun with family. He was a Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.
Survivors include the love of his life, Brenda Gamboe; her sons, Tyler (Mandy) Freese, Barton, NY, and Devon Gamboe, Silvis, grandchildren, Gavin, Mya, and Quintin; his "in-laws", Allen and Sandy Trone, Silvis; his sisters, MaryEllen Blette, Peggy Roffman, and Connie (Craig) Vervaecke, all of East Moline; Brenda's siblings, Greg Trone, Jeff Trone, and Jill Pitts; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, John DePorter; and brothers-in-law, Wayne Blette and Tony Pitts.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the family in care of Brenda Gamboe.

Jim, you were one of the kindest humans I have ever met! Thank you for watching out for me and my mom when we stayed at your beloved Homewood Manor! You and your family worked endlessly to keep it a true "home"... for everyone. I am speechless, otherwise, as I know you were looking forward to slowing down, yet I'm sure this isn't what you meant. Rest In Peace, Jim. God Bless and may He bring Comfort to your family.
