James (Jim) Wilson, 71, of Asheville, passed away unexpectedly on December 27, 2024 while visiting his daughter in Rhode Island. Jim was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandpa, brother and friend.
Jim was born in 1953 in Moline, IL to Harry and Doris Wilson. He attended United Township High School and after graduating began working at John Deere, where he remained until his retirement in 2006. After his retirement, he devoted his time to family, auctions, and hosting legendary yard sales. Jim & Annette moved to Asheville in 2018. He was an outstanding neighbor and was always doing what he loved best, helping others.
Those who knew Jim, admired him as an endlessly kind, clever, and persistent man. He could find anything, fix anything, and make anything. He would brighten someone's day with nothing but a dollar and a trip to the thrift store. He could often be found in his garage tinkering with a bike, car, instrument or collectible.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Annette (Dhondt); their three children Aaron (Calder), Lindsey (Chris), Justin (Tara) and seven grandchildren; Asher and Fitch Pinkerton, Louisa and Jay Wilson, Jasmine Houck, Kiliegh Burge and Vada Wilson. He is also survived by his siblings Charlie (Roxann), Bob and Becky (Ed).
A "Celebration of Life" will be held on Sunday, May 4th from 2-6 in Asheville. Family and friends are invited to come for an informal gathering to share fond memories and many wonderful stories of Jim.

Annette, breaks my heart to know Jim has passed. What a great picture of him - didn´t change a bit from HS! Please know you & your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, but love leaves memories no one can steal.
