October 2, 1926 - March 16, 2025
Jean L. Anderson, 98, of Matherville, Illinois, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Avonlea Cottage of the Quad Cities in Milan, Illinois. Visitation will be held Friday, March 21, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the Dennison Funeral Home in Viola, Illinois. The funeral service will directly follow at 2:30 p.m.
Jean was born on October 2, 1926, in Rock Island to Albert and Lulu Lewis Caffery. On February 15, 1946, she married Richard R. Anderson in Rock Island. They were married for 71 years before his passing on November 4, 2017.
She first was employed with the Servus Rubber Company in Rock Island before working for Seaford Clothing where she would retire in 1984 after 17 years.
Jean was a longtime member of the Matherville Community Church, where she often sang in the choir. She was also active with Ladies Aid in Matherville and the Guys and Gals Bowling League in Milan. In her spare time, she enjoyed cross stitching, crocheting, and rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals.
She is survived by her son, Richard R. (Veta) Anderson of Milan, IL; grandsons, Tim Heaton of Sumner, IL, Wade Anderson of Orion, IL, Jeremy Anderson of Davenport, IA, Clint Anderson of Rock Island, IL, Kyle Anderson of Rock Island, IL; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and sister, Patricia Cullett of Milan, IL.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Anderson; daughter, Kathleen White; grandson, Scott Anderson; parents, Albert and Lulu Caffery; two brothers and two sisters.
