Jeanie Frye
July 24, 1946 - October 10, 2025
Jeanie Lynn (Docherty) Frye passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born on July 24, 1946, in Rock Island, Illinois, and lived a life filled with faith, love, and devotion to her family and community.
In January of 1967, Jeanie married her high school sweetheart, Dennis "Ned" Frye, and together they shared 58 wonderful years of marriage. Side by side, they raised three children - Deneen Taylor (Mike), Ken Frye (Tammy), and David Frye.
Jeanie was a proud grandmother to Logan Frye (Carly), Caitlyn Davis (Josh), Chloe Ellison (Josh), and Libby Horath (Jordan), and a beloved great-grandmother to Aurora, Rowyn, Zoey, Huston, Parker, Nonie, and Sylvie. She is also survived by her brother, Bob Docherty (Margie).
Jeanie was the heart of her family - a steady source of love and comfort. A devoted servant of the Lord, she lived her life as a strong pillar of faith, ensuring that each generation came to know and walk with Jesus.
Jeanie loved holidays and gatherings, where she found so much joy having her whole family under one roof. She filled every occasion with her smile and abundant spread of home-cooked dishes - always making sure everyone's favorite was included. She loved to shop, always finding the best deals and making sure everyone had something special under the Christmas tree each year.
Jeanie was always ready to spend time with her loved ones. Ned always enjoyed that she was ready to go with him to any sprint car race, no matter where it was. Over the years, they enjoyed the simple yet, memorable road trips and vacations they took with each other and their family. She spent countless hours through the generations cheering for the Sherrard Tigers.
She was an active, lifelong member of United Community Church (formerly Boden Community Church), where she served as a pianist and choir member, secretary and treasurer, Sunday School teacher, and active member of the Ladies Aid. Through the years, she also took joy in planning Vacation Bible Schools. Jeanie played a significant role in helping to establish and support the new church, dedicating her time and energy to seeing it grow for future generations. Her faith was evident in all she did, and her service left a lasting impact on her church family and community.
In her quieter moments, Jeanie loved watching crime television shows, always leaving an open seat beside her for anyone who wanted to join.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Pete and Nonie Docherty, and her brothers, Denny Docherty and Dick Docherty.
Jeanie's smile and spirit will be greatly missed, but there is comfort knowing she has been united with her Savior.
