Jeffrey Arne Novak, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a cherished member of our community, who peacefully departed this life on September 16, 2025, at his home in Rock Island, Illinois. He was 74 years old. Born on July 30, 1951, in Rock Island, Jeff was the beloved son of Sam and Dorothy Groves Novak. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, being discharged in 1972, an experience that shaped his character and instilled in him a profound sense of duty and service.
Jeff dedicated most of his professional life to the automotive industry as a service writer, with the latter part of his career spent at Ace Muffler Clinic in Rock Island. His commitment to his work and his kindness toward others earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and customers alike.
A devoted family man, Jeff is survived by his beloved daughter, Amie (Dave Flores) Garcia; along with his adoring granddaughters, Adrianna, Jasmin, and Marcela Garcia; and great-grandchildren, Kole Mallette and Monarch Edwards-Garcia. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, Ryan Novak, Robyn Gates, Lisa Novak, Jolie Novak, Jason Novak and Josh Novak.
Jeff found great joy in participating in the life of his church, serving as an active member of Church of Peace United Church of Christ in Rock Island, where he enjoyed singing in the choir. His involvement in The Community Care Conference further demonstrated his dedication to serving others and giving back to his community.
An avid sports enthusiast, Jeff proudly supported the Iowa Hawkeyes and was known for his love of basketball. His vibrant spirit and engaging personality made him known to many as a social butterfly, weaving connections among family and friends.
In celebration of Jeffrey's life, a memorial visitation will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, located at 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Church of Peace United Church of Christ, 1114 12th Street, Rock Island, IL. Following the service, inurnment with military honors will take place at Rock Island National Cemetery on Arsenal Island.
