Jerry Gibbons Obituary
April 17, 1936 - July 26, 2025
Jerry Adrian Gibbons, age 89, passed away peacefully on July 26th, 2025 in Carlton Oregon. He was surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on April 17, 1936, in Hannibal, Missouri, Jerry spent most of his life in Cambridge and Andover, Illinois. A man of deep faith, unwavering kindness, and quiet strength, Jerry was known for his generous heart and his love of the outdoors. Whether he was working in the garden or simply enjoying the fresh air, he found peace and joy in nature.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Violet, and two of his children, Jerry Jr. and Terri Selman. He is survived by three children: Carrie (Michael) Floto of Cambridge, Sherri (Martin) Nauman of Carlton Oregon and Gary (Linda) Gibbons of Otis Oregon. Jerry was a very proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessed by his warmth, wisdom, and gentle spirit.
Jerry was a devoted believer in Christ, and his life reflected his faith through his compassion for others, his humility, and the quiet strength with which he faced life's challenges. He touched many lives with his generous nature and will be remembered not only as a father and grandfather, but as a man who lived with love and gave freely to those around him.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. August 9th, 2025 at First Baptist Church Geneseo, Illinois.
Graveside service to follow at Rosedale Cemetery Cambridge 1:30 p.m.
Jerry has requested In lieu of flowers donations be made to Pacific NW Hospice of Newberg, Oregon.
