John was born May 8, 1946 in Pontiac, Ill., the son of Edward and Jane (O'Connor) Sant Amour. He married his best friend and love of his life Janeen Duytschaever on February 13, 1965 at Sacred Heart Church, Moline. John and Janeen were married for 60 years and lived and raised four children in their home in Southwest Rock Island where John passed away peacefully.

John graduated from Alleman High School in 1964 and worked at John Deere Parts Distribution for most of his tenure and retired from Harvester, East Moline.

John was an accomplished artist, landscaper, horticulturalist, woodworker and restaurateur at Sant Amour's Café, Rock Island. John loved spending time in the garden with his wife Janeen creating art or woodworking in the garage. Time spent with family sharing stories and laughter were cherished by all. John especially loved watching his children then grandchildren participate in sports and theater beaming with pride at their many talents. Sundays in the fall and winter were special for John as he loved watching his beloved Green Bay Packers. Though John ( Bumpah ) has left this world, his spirit endures in the gifts and talents he nurtured in those around him. His legacy shines through the lives he helped shape.

Survivors include his wife, Janeen; children, Sean (Emily) Sant Amour, Crick (Tracy) Sant Amour, Brady (Jeannie) Sant Amour and Camille Sant Amour (Dan Johnson); grandchildren, Jude, Waylon, Cooper, Summer, Adalynn, Vivian, Hunter, Grant, Carmen, Anatasia, Micah and I. Rosy; great-grandchildren, John, Michael, Sawyer and Virginia; sisters, Katherine Shumacher and Sara (Louis) Mascipinto and Michele (Mike) Montford. He was preceded in death by his sister, Janet Burkhead.

A special and heartfelt thank you to Amy Iams at Active Day, Gretchen and Katrina from Heartland Hospice, and family member Cassie Lempke for their exceptional care, compassion, and support throughout John's journey. Their dedication and love brought comfort and dignity during his final chapter, and our family is deeply grateful.

Oh Janeen,
I am so very sorry for your loss. You and John certainly celebrated the life you had together. And what a beautiful big family you have now to continue celebrating. I truly regret not seeing you in way too long, but I do think so often of you and so many of my teenage friends who made my high school years so much fun. Those are treasured memories. You will always have your treasured memories of John.
