Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Hess, 94, of Moline, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2025 at Friendship Manor, Rock Island.
Burial will be 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at National Cemetery, Rock Island. Those wishing to attend should meet at Rafferty Funeral Home, 2111-1st St A., Moline at 9:15 a.m. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. at Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline or Youth Hope, Moline.
Libby was born September 25, 1930 in Dover, Del., the daughter of Kenneth and Mary (Kreider) Roper. She married Edward Hess on August 27, 1955 in Dover, Del.
Libby graduated from Dover High School and Lebanon Valley College, Pa. She was a School Teacher for three years and later worked as a Teachers Aid for Moline School District for many years.
Libby was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline. She belonged to Women's Society and went on 18 habitat work trips in Michigan.
Survivors include her husband, Ed; sons, Mark (Amy) Hess and James Hess; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, William and John Roper.
