Lavern A. "Vern" Moore, 87, of Cambridge, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Hillcrest Home, rural Geneseo, after a brief illness. As per his wishes, cremation has been accorded and a private graveside committal service will be held in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge, at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Cambridge Library. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Cambridge, is assisting the family.
Lavern Arthur Moore was born June 28, 1937 in Cambridge Township, the son of Leo L. and Blanche M. Buckley Moore. He was educated in Cambridge schools and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1955. He later attended Black Hawk College. Vern served in the U. S. Marine Corp reserves from 1955 to 1957 and then with the U. S. Army from 1957 to 1959 at the Pacific Headquarters in Hawaii. His marriage to Janis Marie Humphrey took place in Orion on June 1, 1958. She passed away on June 18, 2024.
He worked for 38 years as a laboratory manager for Regal/ National By-Products in Illinois and Iowa before retiring and moving back to Cambridge. Vern enjoyed antiques, gardening, and hunting. He was a past Master and Life Member of the Cambridge Lodge No. 49, A.F. and A. M. He was also a member of the Cambridge Lutheran Church.
Those surviving are his two daughters, Lisa (Ken) Allison, and Susan (Kenny) Beam, all of Cambridge; grandchildren, Nikole (Kyle) Cooper, Cambridge, Bradley (Veronica) Beam, Geneseo, and Amanda (Dustin) Johnson, Milton, FL; great-grandchildren, Lylah, Landyn, Lawsyn, Braeden, McKenna, Eve, Abram, and Callen; and brother, Howard Moore, Ariz. His parents; his wife; and an infant granddaughter, Megan Anne Allison, preceded him in death.
