Leona Dobbels Obituary
July 12, 1935 - August 26, 2025
Leona F. Dobbels, 90, of Geneseo died on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Allure of Geneseo. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2nd at St. Malachy's Catholic Church, Geneseo. Father Chris Haake will officiate. Interment will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Malachy's Catholic Church. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Cambridge is assisting the family with arrangements.
Leona Faye Lock was born July 12, 1935 in Geneseo, IL the daughter of Joseph P. and Leona Violet (Clark) Lock. She graduated from Geneseo High School in 1954 where she had been a baton twirler. She met and married Alfred J. Dobbels of Cambridge on October 12, 1957 in Geneseo. He died on August 29, 1995. Leona had worked at several nursing homes and in-home care taking care of others. She was a member of St. Malachy's Catholic Church, Geneseo.
Leona was a big fan of Elvis and country music. She enjoyed visiting Opryland in Nashville and many trips to Arizona, Colorado, and Branson, MO. She had attended many Indian Pow Wow's and enjoyed square dancing.
Survivors include two daughters, Jackie (Mike) Wisdom, and Janet (Jason) Shoemaker; three sons, John (Pam), Joe, and Jesse Dobbels; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter, Jennifer Werner; son, Jerry Dobbels; and sister, Viola Gerstner.
