Linda VanHooreweghe Obituary
December 16, 1947 - August 13, 2025
Linda VanHooreweghe passed from this world into the next on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, IA.
Born to the McKibbin brood of four girls and two boys to Kenneth "Buzz" and Louise McKibbin, she grew up in Buffalo, IA with sisters Nancy Guizar, Donna Hicks and Cindy Mosier, and brothers Gary and Larry McKibbin.
Linda raised two children of her own, Michelle Anderson (spouse Perry Anderson), and Matthew Cramblett (spouse Andy McConn). Michelle made Linda a grandma with her children, Sydney, Tucker, and Beckett Anderson.
With her strong support for early childhood education, Linda took an active role in the PTA. Rising to president, teachers and administrators knew her well. Following that time she became a teamster as a deli manager for Eagle Food Stores. She became a partner with her husband Bob, owning and operating Leisure Harbor Inn, she ran the bed and breakfast for 28 years (and was good at it) while Bob ran the marina. Covid did not help the business.
Linda and Bob were married on the lawn at Leisure Harbor Inn, duplicating the previous owners of the property who were married in 1939. Linda and Bob enjoyed 31 adventure and loved-filled years together.
Linda was finally starting to enjoy her retirement when the demon that she battled for 51 years, cancer, reared its ugly head again. She fought a courageous battle again, but God had other plans.
Arrangements are pending at Gibson-Bode Funeral Home, Port Byron. A Celebration of Life will be held with an open house at a later date.

Linda and I were friends, PTA associates, Girl Scout leaders together many years ago. So very sorry to hear of your loss, prayers and hugs to Michelle and Matt and to the rest of her family
