Loren Eugene Foster

Loren Eugene Foster, of rural Sherrard, Ill., passed away Saturday, November 14, 2025, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan.
The visitation will be held two hours prior to the service, from 9 to 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sherrard Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Loren's name to
Wounded Warrior.
Loren E. was born on June 17, 1933, in Payson Township, Ill., the son of Loren O. and Edith (Hall) Foster. He attended Rock Island Public Schools until the age of 17, when he enlisted in the United States Navy as an electrician's mate. During the Korean conflict, Loren served four years at sea, with an honorable discharge in 1955. After coming home from his service, Loren went on to complete his GED and graduate from Black Hawk College with and Associate's Degree.
On July 23, 1955, Loren was united in marriage with Martha S. Anderson. As an electrician, Loren was a lifelong Journeyman. In his career, Loren worked at several local companies but came to roost at John Deere Harvester in Moline, Ill., where he retired after 22 years. Loren and Martha bought 88 acers of farmland in December of 1962 in rural Sherrard, Ill. Together they raised cattle, pigs, chickens, and specialized in black angus cattle. They also raised one son together, Loren Duane Foster.
Loren was active in local government and served two terms as the Richland Grove Township Supervisor. He had a passion for history which led him to genealogy. He and Martha spent over 40 years researching multiple family histories. They even wrote and published seven books covering the Foster, Peterson, Anderson, Wages, Howe and many more families.
His family lineage were all farmers dating back to the 1600s. Farming was in his heart, blood, and soul. He was actively involved with the Foster family farm up until his passing.
Loren is survived by his son, Loren D. Foster; grandsons, Loren M. (Molly) Foster, Steven (Sarah Pender), Nicholas (Trista) Foster; great-grandchildren, Loren Kade, Eli, Gretchyn, Kylie, Audrey, and Hunter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Martha; daughter-in-law, Karen; and brother, Charles R. Foster.
