Mary Juanita Sundquist, 92, of Rock Island, passed away October 24, 2023, at Friendship Manor, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. at Rafferty Funeral Home, 2111 First St. A, Moline with visitation one hour prior to the funeral. The service will be live streamed on Rafferty's Facebook page or could be viewed on their website. Burial will be at Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials can be made to St. James Lutheran Church.
Mary was born April 16, 1931 in Hannibal, MO, the Daughter of Albert and Mary (Roberts) Smith. She was married to Ward H. Sundquist on August 27, 1950, in Rock Island.
Mary was a homemaker. She loved raising their three daughters. After raising the girls she enjoyed working for eleven years at the Blackhawk College bookstore. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Rock Island.
She adored her girls and family. Everyone she met felt loved and seen by her and she always had a sweet treat for anyone who visited. She prayed for others with a compassionate heart.
She delighted in sewing, quilting, baking, playing games, doing puzzles, and cooking. She was fond of camping, fishing, and boating because of her deep love for her husband and his interests. She was the sweetest wife, mother, grandma, sister, daughter, and friend.
Survivors include her daughters: Terry (Steve) Clausen, Rock Island, Ronda (Jerry) Polen, Rock Island, and Judy (Gary) Ferris, Rock Island; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Kay (Ron) Timmerman, Minnesota; brother, Bob (Alice) Smith, Michagan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ward, of 71 years; and her brother, Al.
