Michael A. Williams, 80, of Bettendorf, passed away, October 20, 2023, at UnityPoint Health Trinity Bettendorf surrounded by his family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 27, 2023, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Visitation will be 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Esterdahl Mortuary, Moline. A rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Alexis, IL. Memorials may be given to the family for a fund to be established.
Michael was born on August 7, 1943, in Walla Walla, WA, the son of Arthur J. and Frances E. Williams (nee Lee). He married Maria Leonor Soler on May 17, 1969, in Bucaramanga, Colombia.
Michael attended Kadena High School, and remained close with many of his classmates; he graduated from Alexis High School. Michael went on to graduate from St. Benedict's College in 1966 and served in the Peace Corps for 3 years. He then attended and graduated from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 1972. He was the founder of Williams & Associates in Rock Island and was still practicing law. His passion was to help and to serve others. Michael was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Moline for over 50 years and was an active member Opus Dei. He loved Notre Dame Football, the outdoors, bird hunting as well as traveling and was a lifelong learner. Above all was his true love for his wife, children and grandchildren.
Michael is survived by his wife of 54 years, Leonor; children, Sean (Kelly) Williams and Frances Williams; grandchildren: Emma, Ian, Miranda, and Trevor; sister; Ruth (Dennis) Morgan and nieces, Alison and Emily.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Frances.
