Nancy Coopman Obituary

Nancy J. Coopman, 87, of Largo, FL, formerly of Moline, IL, passed away on October 29, 2023, at Oakleaf Manor in Roswell, GA. Cremation rites have been accorded.

A funeral mass and visitation will be announced for a future date at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Largo, FL.

Memorials may be made to St. Jerome Catholic Church in Largo, FL.

Nancy (Littig) Coopman was born on October 24, 1936, the only child of Joe and Ruth (Nelson) Littig, in Rock Island, Illinois. Nancy graduated from Alleman High School in Rock Island in 1954. She worked as an auditor for Royal American Neighbors of America Insurance, married Robert (Bob) Coopman on June 27, 1959, and was married for 44 years.

After the birth of her first child, Nancy became a full-time mother and homemaker, supporting and caring for her family. She was dedicated and active in their lives, actively participating in their early grade school years and attending all school and sporting events through high school. Later in life, Nancy said that the best part of her life was being a homemaker and mother to her children. She enjoyed collecting antiques and furnished her home beautifully with them. Nancy planned and enjoyed family vacations throughout the U.S. When her children were in high school and college, Nancy worked as a salesperson at a gift and bridal registry specialty store.

In 1985, Nancy and Bob moved to Largo, Florida. Nancy adapted to Florida, enjoying the sun and beach, working part-time as a caregiver in her clients' homes, and also part-time working for the state of Florida, assisting lower income new birth mothers. Nancy was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, served as a greeter, and weekly assisted in cooking with the church ministry of providing meals for the homeless and those in need. She spent time volunteering as an usher at the local community theatre and elementary school, assisting children in their reading program, and participated in weekly yoga into her 70s. She enjoyed having local friend groups. Most of all, she loved her seven grandchildren and enjoyed visiting them and being a fun Grandma.

Surviving family members include daughter, Jill (Mark) Lonegra of Dalzell, IL; sons, Robert, Jr. (Jan) of Plano, TX, and Jonathan (Sue) of Alpharetta, GA; and grandchildren: Yasmina and Aaron Lonegra, Mike and Steve Coopman, Cole, Max, and Carly Coopman. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Verl Small.

Nancy was my partner in crime at the St Jerome´s 4pm mass. She worked as greeter and me as usher. I would wait in the parking lot for her white car to pull in and we would walk in together. I´ve been missing her and she will always have a special place in my heart. May she Rest In Peace with our Lord
