SILVIS-Norma M. Cowdery, 89, of Silvis, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Illini Restorative Center, Silvis, Illinois.
Private funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd, 1902-3rd Avenue East Moline. Rev. Ron Havavan will officiate. Funeral services will be live streamed: www.facebook.com/sullivanellismortuary. A visitation will be one hour prior. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, masks must be worn and social distancing will be enforced. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Norma Marjory Mellinger was born March 25, 1931 in Oakville, Iowa; the daughter of Loyal Allen and Marjory Elaine (Johnson) Mellinger. Norma married the love of her life, Gene D. Cowdery, January 14, 1949 in the home of her parents, in Carbon Cliff, Illinois. Gene passed January 6, 2003. From this union was born Diane, Beth, Denise, and Douglas. She worked as a bookkeeper for Teske Pet and Garden Center, Moline, Illinois. Norma was a member of The Community Christian Fellowship, Moline, Illinois. As young parents, Norm and Gene loved to bowl on Sunday evening. She also enjoyed golf and reading. She was an avid card player. Norma loved to work on her family genealogy.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Diane (Ross) Carbiener, Kewanee, Illinois, and Beth (Brian) Stokes, Coal Valley, Illinois, her son, Douglas G. (Lenore) Mellinger, Hampton, Illinois, her beloved grandchildren, Tonya (Glenn) Campbell, Sarah (Ryan) Conyers, Carey (Jason) Lundy, Colin (Kalie) Stokes, Calie Mikles, Heather Carson, and Heidi (Darren) Richardson, and her brothers, Donald (Nancy) Mellinger, Riverside, California, and Gary (Sandi) Mellinger, East Moline.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Denise Cowdery, and her great-grandson, Bryce Campbell.

Dear Cowdery Family , I Just found out last night from kent - jan 13 about dear Norma - we are still out in PA but wanted to let you know we are thinking if you all today And our hearts go out to you. Norma was an amazing and fun lady - I always loved her laugh - i wished i got to know her better. But i know You were all blessed to have her as a mother and grandmother.She Will be greatly missed. So sorry to read about Denise as well . And i still think of dear Bryce all the time . I am battling lymphoma now-myself / Bryce still gives me strength! Loved that young man very much . Please Send my love to Tanya and family As well

Gramma, finally back arm in arm w grampa, sitting on one of those heaven benches telling him to turn down his hearing aid down! Love you guys so much I'm just happy you're back together again!
