Patricia Gant Obituary

Patricia "Pat" Gant

January 16, 1939 - October 25, 2025

Patricia (Pat) Joan O'Shaughnessy Gant, 86, beloved wife, mother grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, at Silver Cross nursing home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline, with visitation one hour prior at the church, burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island. Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, is assisting the family with services.

Pat was born on January 16, 1939 in Decatur, Ill., to Basil and Margaret (McManus) O' Shaughnessy. Pat attended St Teresa high School in Decatur, Ill., was a beautician by trade and a creative soul by nature. She met the love of her life, Michael Gant, at just 14 years old in a movie theater, a chance meeting that led to a lifetime of love, laughter, and dancing. The two were rarely seen apart and were known for lighting up any dance floor they stepped onto.

Together, they raised four children: daughters, Anna (Jim) Catour, East Moline, Margaret (Scott) Davis Bettendorf, and Ellen (Stuart) Tennant, Silvis; son, Thomas (Tracy) Gant, Lakeland, Fla. Pat devoted her life to making the most out of what she had and poured her heart into her family and home. She was endlessly resourceful and generous with her talents, sewing, baking, cooking, crocheting, cross-stitching, and making her famous fudge that everyone looked forward to each holiday.

Her kitchen was always a place of warmth and welcome. She shared her love of food not only with her family but also by cooking for the priests at St. Anne's East Moline, a reflection of her quiet faith and giving spirit.

Pat leaves behind a legacy of creativity, resilience, and love. She will be deeply missed by her husband; children; grandchildren, Nicholas (Jeni) Swanson, Katie (Jayson) Fox, Aubrie-Anna (Ryan) Carlson, Kayla Paulus, Justin Gant, Kaycie Koresko, Riley (Olivia) Koresko, Maggie (Kane Dalton) Gant and Molly Tennant; great-grandchildren, Ella (Gage) Swanson, Michael and Claire Swanson, Aiden Tinney, Rylee, Annabelle and Brennan Carlson; step-grandchildren, Christian, Jalin and Natalie Davis; Bonus family, Michael, Stacy, Tenley and Athena Bogguess; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Teresa Gant; sisters, Mary Margaret Foley, Rita Ann Nicol, Nancy Rutter; and brother, Bill Borg.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Pat by baking something for someone you love, dancing with your sweetheart, or donating to Christ the King Catholic Church, Silver Cross at Friendship Manor, Heartland Hospice or a charity for dementia or Parkinson's disease.
