Peter Dasso
July 8, 1960 - February 22, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Peter Raymond "Pete" Dasso, who passed away on February 22, 2025, at Northwestern Medical Center in Chicago, Illinos. Pete was 64 years old. Pete was born at the former St. Anthony's Hospital, Rock Island, on July 8, 1960, a son of Vince and Rosella (nee Schaecher) Dasso.
Pete was a loving husband to his wife of 40 years, Lorrie Dasso (nee Jefferson), who he married on June 23, 1984 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. He was a caring father to three sons; Andrew (spouse, Marguerite, and grandchildren, Ella, Marie, Logan), Benjamin (spouse, Stephanie), and Christopher (spouse, Michelle, and grandchildren, Isaac, Madelyn, Gianna, Vincent). He is also survived by his sisters; Charlene McLean, Janet (Lanny) McMahill, and JoAnn Kauzlerich; brothers-in-law, Dan Erdman, Ray (Gail) Jefferson; and his many nieces and nephews.
Pete was a devoted Catholic and a long-time member of St. Mary's Parish in Rock Island. His faith was central to his life, and he found great comfort in praying the Rosary and receiving the sacraments.
A dedicated electrician, Pete worked at Tacey Electric, retired from Rock River Electric and was a proud member of IBEW 145. He was known for his strong work ethic, humility, and dedication to his craft. Pete's career reflected his commitment to providing for his family and helping his community.
Pete had a hearty laugh and a fun sense of humor that could relate to anyone in the room. He loved spending time with his family and friends, playing cards, and watching his beloved Chicago Bears on Sundays with friends carrying out 40 years of superstitions and rituals. He was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and never missed a game, often sharing the experience with those he loved. Pete found joy in simple pleasures, like heating his home with his wood burner, which added warmth to both his home and his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vince and Rosella Dasso, and his siblings: Carl, Donald, Carol, Jackie, Linda, and Lauri.
In the face of grief, Pete's legacy continues through the selfless act of tissue donation through the Gift of Hope. Even in his passing, he shines brightly, a candle of hope for those in need.
Pete's passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him. His memory will live on through his family, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave.
A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rock Island on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 10 am.
