Raymon Garbett Obituary

Raymon Garbett

September 23, 1948 - December 16, 2024

Raymon Garbett, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on December 16, 2024, in Ocala, Fla. Born on September 23, 1948, in Moline, Ill., to Roy and Bernice Garbett, Raymon lived a life full of kindness, passion, and unwavering dedication to those around him.

Raymon graduated from Southern Illinois University and, after two years of teaching, he began a successful career with John Deere, devoting over 30 years to the company. He retired from Deere & Company as Manager of Marketing Information, where he was responsible for new product introductions, including creating product information manuals, producing videos, and organizing new product introduction dealer shows. His contributions left an enduring legacy of leadership and expertise.

In 1971, he married Patricia DeMay and shared 16 years of marriage until her passing in 1987. Together, they had two sons, John and Jim. In 1988, he married Kaye, and they blended their families, adding her two sons, Chad and Chris Dunn.

Ray was an avid fisherman from an early age, and he loved spending time fishing with all his family. He also enjoyed golf, and being in Florida in the winter made it possible to play year-round.

Surviving Raymon are his wife, Kaye; his sons, John and Jim (Brooke); stepson, Chad Dunn (Becky); his brother, James (Sharon); his grandchildren, Nicholas, Caley Blake (Chris), Lilly, Andrew, and Michael; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Roy and Bernice Garbett; his first wife, Patricia; his stepfather, Kenneth Pearson; and his stepson, Chris Dunn.

A memorial service will be held on February 15, at Christ United Methodist Church in East Moline, Ill. Family and friends are invited for visitation at 1 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2:30 p.m. Interment will take place at Greenview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, honoring Raymon's generous spirit and love for helping others.
