Robert Lee Beck
October 8, 1943 - May 4, 2023
Robert Lee Beck, 80, of Rock Island, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2023, at UPH Trinity, Rock Island.
A service celebrating his life will be held on 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2024, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, with Military Honors presented by United States Army.
Robert was born on October 8, 1943, in Mounds, IL, the son of John and Dovie Beck. Mr. Beck was a graduate of Cairo High School, where he excelled at several sports. Robert later graduated from College with an Associate's Degree before joining the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Robert had been employed at Caterpillar for as a quality control coordinator. After retirement, he worked for Rock Island High School and had also managed the Rock Island Elks Club.
Robert enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and friends. He was passionate about fishing, golfing and his bowling leagues.
Survivors include his two children: Lisa Beck, Maurice Beck; grandchildren, Evelyn McCain and Maurlyse Shropshire.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Velma Lewis.
