Robert A. Eckermann, Sr.
May 15, 1941 - March 15, 2024
Robert A. Eckermann Sr., 82, of Colona, IL passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024 at his home.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM -12:00 PM with a funeral service following at 12:00 PM on Friday, March 22, 2024 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be left in Robert's name to the Humane Society.
Robert was born on May 15, 1941 in Rock Island, IL the son of Fred and Aubrey (Ryan) Eckermann. He graduated from Augustana College with his bachelor's degree. Robert married Karen Carlson, with whom he had three sons. He later married Connie Shakelford.
Robert started his career teaching at United Township High School and later was employed at Color Arts. He then founded Quality Controlled Staffing, and was President until his retirement.
Robert enjoyed spending time working with his hands on repairing and rebuilding older cars and watching his beloved sports teams.
Survivors include his sons, Robert (Dee) Eckermann Jr., Barry (Mitzi Harmon) Eckermann; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sisters, Linda (Tom) Dickman and Holly (Gary) Williams; two nieces, three nephews, and three grandnieces and six grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Todd Andrew Eckermann; his parents; and grandparents.
