In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Honor Flight of Quad Cities, 4130 Northwest Blvd., Davenport, IA 52806. Bob really enjoyed his Honor Flight on August 30, 2018.
He was born on November 11, 1947 in Moline, Illinois, to Lester and Hazel (Kepple) Taylor.
He married Robin Young at the First Christian Church in East Moline on August 2, 1975.
A veteran of the Vietnam War, Bob served in Company C 2nd Battalion 16th Infantry from 1968-1969. He was wounded in 1968 and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was very excited to have reconnected with his Army brothers and looked forward every June to attending the Companies reunion in Branson Missouri.
He was a 1965 graduate of United Township High School in East Moline.
He graduated from Blackhawk College in 1973. Bob worked at International Harvester from 1966 until 1981 starting on the assembly line moving into the test department and eventually the design department. He then worked as a senior designer for ALCOA in Bettendorf, IA where he helped design many of the plant expansions. He retired in 2010 after 28 years of service.
Bob lived in East Moline almost his whole life, and with his wife, Robin, raised their 3 children before selling their home of 47 years in 2021 to travel in their motorhome. Unfortunately, in November due to illness, their plans were heartbreakingly cut short.
He loved, and was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed working on cars, computers, camping, road trips, motorcycles, and all things NASA and space exploration. Bob also looked forward to and enjoyed monthly lunches with his UT class of '65 classmates and twice a month breakfasts with ALCOA retiree friends.
He was a devoted son, caring for his mom following the passing of his father in 2007 until her passing in 2015.
He is survived by his wife, daughters Renae (Matt) Clarke of Plainfield, IL, Becky (Tim) Pionke of Hiawatha, IA, and son Ryan (Bridget) Taylor of Maryville, IL, eight grandchildren, Logan, Zac, and Nora Clarke, Dylan and Gavin Pionke, and Cooper, Carter, and Maizey Taylor, sister, Judy (Craig) Tucker of Stockton, IA, sisters-in-law, Sandie (Bill) Morris and Amy (Don) Stogsdill of Moline, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, Bob and Jan (Stromer) Young, brother-in-law, Joe Young, and son-in-law Jerry Schneider.
