On February 8, 2022 Ronald E. Boyd, of Winter Springs FL., died unexpectedly at his home.
Memorial services for Mr. Boyd will be 1 pm, Monday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Ronald Eugene Boyd was born on January 19, 1941, the son of Vivian Eileen Bridgewater and Ralph Eldin Boyd, in Elmwood, IL. Ron graduated from Rock Island High School in 1959, and later obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Augustana College majoring in Psychology and Music. While at Augie Ron was a member of the football team and the Pi Upsilon Gamma fraternity. Ron enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1966.
On June 10, 1963 Ron married Patricia A. Flores in Rock Island. This marriage produced two children, Ronna S. Boyd and Jeffrey A. Boyd. Shortly after graduating from Augie, Ron began working for IBM. This was the beginning of a long career in the computer hardware and software sales industry that included stints with Digital Equipment Corporation and Apple. These jobs brought Ron and his family to East Moline, IL., Burlington, IA., and Orlando, FL. Ron most recently worked in the medical software sales industry. After retiring, Ron volunteered in his community with the Winter Springs Police Department and the Seminole County Sheriff's Office.
Ron was an avid weightlifter and softball player. Earlier in life, Ron was an accomplished musician who played the trumpet in local Quad City bands. Ron enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren; relaxing at the beach; and playing with his dog, Gus.
Survivors include, Patricia Boyd, Ronna Boyd, Jeff (Ann) Boyd, Nick Boyd, Conner Boyd, Chloe Boyd; half-brothers Ralph Boyd, Jr., Robert Boyd; and, special friend Terri Martel of Winter Springs, FL.

Saddened to see this. As a young IBM´er in Burlington, Ron took me under his wing and provided welcomed guidance and counsel. I remember trips to Moline in the red Mustang, lifting weights at the "Y" , and an occasional breakfast at Pizzaz. He was a fine man and will be missed.
