Ruth M. Fowler

ALEDO-Ruth M. Fowler, 91, of Aledo, IL, passed away at 10:43 a.m., July 4, 2021, at Brookstone of Aledo, Aledo, IL.
She was born on February 7, 1930, in Viola, IL, the daughter of Eugene and Margaret (Schaab) Hayburn. Ruth was raised and educated in Viola and graduated from Viola High School.
Ruth married Dwayne L. Fowler on November 6, 1949, in Viola, IL; he preceded her in death on February 26, 1994.
Ruth worked for many years as a Rehab Supervisor. She worked at the Mercer County Hospital, Georgetown, and the Mercer County Nursing Home for 30 years. Ruth enjoyed crocheting, reading, painting, baking, and most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of the Sunbeam United Presbyterian Church.
Surviving Ruth are her children; Barb Hill of Aledo, IL, Pam (Ken) Hicks-Stotmeister of Moline, IL, Janet Hawk of New Windsor, IL, Donald Fowler of New Windsor, IL, Douglas (Tammy) Fowler of Dodgeville, WI, Dudley (Rachel) Fowler of Aledo, IL, Missy (Mike Garber) Sproston of New Windsor, IL. Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; brothers-in-law, Richard Whittington, Dick (Paula) Fowler, Gene (Judy) Fowler; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter and son-in-law, Linda (Mike) VanWychen; brother, Lester Hayburn; sister-in-law, Marie Hayburn, Mar Lou Whittington, Wanda Evans; brother-in-law, Bob Fowler; sons-in-law, Ralph Hill, Don Hicks; and daughter-in-law, Janet Jensen-Fowler.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 9, 2021, at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, IL. Interment will be in Viola Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, IL and also prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Funeral Services will be livestreamed on the Speer Funeral Home Facebook page at the time of the service.
