PORT BYRON-Wayne Fisher Skelton, 90, of Port Byron, Illinois, died Thursday, November 19, 2020 at his home. Due to the current restrictions, there will be no services at this time. A private graveside will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a Veteran's group of donor's choice.

Wayne was born on October 26, 1930 in Moline, Illinois, the son of Almer Harper and Ruth Alda (Wainwright) Skelton. He graduated from Port Byron High School in 1948 and was drafted into the US Marine Corps in 1951. He married Beverley Joy Nevins on January 9, 1953 at the Zuma Methodist Church, rural Hillsdale. After his discharge, Wayne went back to work for George Evans Co. in Moline and retired after 46 years. He loved working outside mowing lawn, and cutting and splitting wood. He loved to read, especially westerns, and anything by Louis L'Amour.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Beverley; daughters, Joy (John) Clouw, East Moline, Jill (Dale) Hofstetter, O'Fallon, MO, Judy (Walter) Hamm, Port Byron; son, Mike (Marla) Skelton, Port Byron; 9 grandchildren, Autumn Skelton, Naomi Jones, Leigh Skelton, Dassah Skelton, Jacob Snelling, Alyssa Colf, Clay Reveal, Casey Reveal, Celie Pool; 13 great-grandchildren; and niece and nephews, Sherrill Work, New Mexico, Dennis Skelton, Wyoming, Darwin Skelton, Colorado. Bev and family, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Wayne will truly be missed he was a wonderful warm and caring person. I always enjoyed chatting with him when he came for the movies at the library. Bev you and Wayne will always had a spot filled with good memories in my heart. Much love to your family
