Dennis Victor Garcia, Sr. age 67, lifetime resident of Tucumcari, NM, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 4, 2024, at his home in Tucumcari surrounded by loved ones.

Dennis was born March 9, 1957, in Tucumcari to Rafael and Virgie Garcia. He was a graduate of Tucumcari High School and retired from New Mexico State Highway Department. After retirement Dennis continued working with different construction companies and helping out in his community. He was a board member at St. Vincent De Paul, where he volunteered his time and at St. Anne's Catholic Church.

Dennis is proceeded in death by his parents Rafael and Virginia Garcia.

Dennis is survived by his son, Dennis Garcia, Jr. and wife Janck, daughter Denise Vargas and husband Robert; sisters, Georgia Garcia, Susan Gonzales, Donna Walker and husband Donald; grandchildren, Xavier Garcia (Aliyah Garcia), Xzander Garcia, Julian Vargas, Franchesca Vargas, Desiree Vargas, Zoriah Phillips, and Amaya Vargas; great grandchildren, Xia, Xade and Axel Garcia, and a host of many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Dennis loved spending time with his family, specially camping and fishing with them. He also enjoyed hunting and working on cars with his son and nephews. Dennis enjoyed lending a helping hand to people in need and will be remembered for that.

Visitation for family and friends will take place on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, from 1-6PM at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa, NM.

Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 10:15AM at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Tucumcari, NM with Rev. Cameron Degani officiating.

Following the Mass, Dennis will be laid to rest at Tucumcari Memorial Park with Xavier Garcia, Xzander Garcia, Zoria Phillips, Julian Vargas, Daniel Gonzales, Reyes Gonzales and John Preciado serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be close friends and great-grandchildren.
