Dorothy Marie Kvols

Dorothy Marie Kvols, age 100, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024, in Fort Collins, Colorado. Born on November 19, 1923, in Laurel, Nebraska, Dorothy was the daughter of Albert and Lucille Thompson. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Damon (1921–1970), her parents, and her siblings: Helen, James, and Albert Dale. She is survived by her brother Marvin and sister Arlys (Roger); her children Larry (Martha), Marolyn (Roger), and Nancy (Tony); her grandchildren Michael, Laura, Kris, Sarah, and Melissa; as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Dorothy and Damon were married in 1942, and together they raised their family first on a farm in Nebraska, then later in New Mexico. A devoted mother and active member of her community, Dorothy became a cherished figure in Tucumcari, New Mexico, where she served as the Director of the Chamber of Commerce for 35 years. She was also deeply involved in the Altrusa Club, the Red Hat Ladies, and the Center Street Methodist Church.

In 2016, Dorothy moved to Bellvue, Colorado, with family where she found great joy in the beauty of the Rocky Mountains. Throughout her life, she was known for her warm, loving spirit, her impeccable sense of style, and her unwavering devotion to family and community.

A private family service will be held in the spring in Nebraska, where Dorothy will be laid to rest beside her husband.

She will be remembered fondly by all who knew her as a kind, graceful woman with a sweet personality and a heart full of love.
