James Robert Hudson, Jr., long time Tucumcari resident and businessman passed away on September 15, 2021, following a short illness. He was born August 15, 1961, to James R. and Thelma (Irey) Hudson in Muskegon, Mi. He graduated from Fruitport High School in 1979 and enlisted in the US Air Force in September. After Basic Training, his first permanent duty station was Cannon Air Force Base near Clovis, NM. While stationed at Cannon AFB, he met Lynn Parker Tompkins and they were married on November 7, 1980. In November 1982, he was transferred to RAF Bentwaters, England. For the next 3 years, the young family resided near Ipswich, Suffolk, UK. Following his tour of duty, Jim resided first in Muskegon, MI, and later moved to Tucumcari, NM. For more than 30 years, Jim operated an auto parts store on Route 66 in Tucumcari. He was active in the American Legion, serving as Commander of Post 19, Conchas Dam, New Mexico for several years. He was also active in the American Legion Riders, Chapter 9, of New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ron Hudson; and by his beloved son, Mike Hudson, who passed away in 2007 at the age of 24. He is survived by his wife, Lynn of the home; children, Sandi (Jack) Estberg, of Boise, ID, Clinton (Misty) Tompkins, of Tucumcari; brother, Don (Chris) Hudson of Muskegon, MI. He is also survived by 3 grandsons, Tyler Oldenberg, Gavin Tompkins and Aaron Tompkins; and special friends, Elaine and Eric Toohill of Mesa, AZ.
A graveside memorial service will be held November 6, 2021 at 2 pm at Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery.

I have countless fond memories of Jim. I was class of 80 and Jim and Ed were like older brothers to me. The 3 amigos for sure. Talked to Jim last around 2017. R.I.P. my friend.

JIM and I grew up together he lived across the street and were best friends in school .we didn't reconnect after he moved to NM. I'm still In Muskegon
