Rodney Ward Obituary

Rodney Curtis Ward passed away in Amarillo, TX at Northwest Texas Hospital on January 22, 2021, at the age of 48. He was born in Tucumcari, N.M. on July 22, 1972, to Helen Ward. Preceded in death by his sweet loving daughter, Karen Ward; and grandparents Joe and Hazel Ward.
He attended college at UNM where he played Rugby, designed 3D Hologram for NASA, and then graduated with his Computer Engineering degree. After graduating he began working for Lockheed Martin in Colorado. Then he went on to work at New Mexico Software, where he designed and developed Magzoom. He then was one of the first to begin google target marketing for RV companies and lawyers. He became tired of others making money off his hard work and ideas, so decided to become an entrepreneur. That is when he fell in love with sacred geometry that led him to want to build geodesic domes at a low cost. He created his first design in his garage. So for the last 15 years he has run his own business creating children dome climbers and connectors for green houses.
Rodney lived a unique life and found comfort in always trying to help others. He will forever be remembered by his sons, Trenton Ward, Frank Ward, and daughter Brooklyn, sister Tammy Newsom; brother-in-law, Joey Newsom; nephew Chase; and niece, Dru. Along with all his loving aunts, uncles, cousins, life long friends, and his Amarillo Town Club family.
In lieu of flowers or those who choose to give a gift to honor Rodney to help with future expenses his children may incur, a gofundme has been set up or you can directly donate to the benefit account setup at Amarillo National Bank for Rodney Ward.
Church service will be held Friday, January 29, 2021 at 1:00 at the First Baptist Church, 321 E Center St, Tucumcari, NM. Graveside to follow. Viewing will be held all day on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at Dunn's Funeral Home 115 S 3rd St, Tucumcari, NM.

Rodney and I were together in 5th grade at Granger School in Tucumcari. He could be counted on to help his classmates and me. I can picture his wide smile and remember he wore it every single day.
It was no surprise to read in his story that he spent his life helping people.
I am sad for you in your loss and also for the rest of us who need all the kindness and care Rodney gave us.

Such a beautiful soul. I remember the days of you hanging out at the house and the soccer tricks you'd show us to entertain us. Gone too soon.
