Amy Marie Smith
June 11, 1979 - January 16, 2024
Amy Marie Smith, 44, born on June 11, 1979, in Clinton, IA, the daughter of Daniel J. Smith, and Sally J. Smith, has died suddenly by a senseless act of violence on January 16, 2024.
Graveside services will take place this year on her birthday, June 11, 2024, at Clinton Lawn Cemetery.
Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting with arrangements.
Amy was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, friend and most importantly mother. She has struggled with addiction for several years although we feared the addiction would take her life, we never expected this outcome. Amy was so much more than her addiction. She has three children: Alyvia April Jeanne Smith April 16, 1999, Avery Xavier Smith December 19, 2002, and Violet May Smith May 16, 2011.
Amy is survived by her children: parents; paternal grandparents; three sisters: Sara Womack (Dwain Womack), Kelli Elliott (Scott Elliott Jr.) and Danielle Andersen (Jeremy Andersen), Nieces Taitum Smith (Kelli), Skylarr Rettkowski, nephew Kaleb Rettkowski (Sara)), Emma Campie (Danielle); and many other family and friends.
Amy attended Clinton school until she went to the Job Corp and received her GED in 1997. She had worked at Home Depot, and DM Services. She had been in recovery at Wish Ministries in Davenport, IA, a brief time before she had passed. She was hippie at heart, she enjoyed camping so much that she would prefer to "live at camping." Amy was such a thoughtful, caring and compassionate woman, she would do anything for her friends and we have heard so many stories from friends of hers through the years where she went above and beyond for them in tough times just to help make their lives easier.
Give yourself or a loved one a fighting chance for recovery, make the call, take the first step.

Amy was and is the best friend you could ever imagine. She was smart and caring and so so funny. Always there to lend a hand or an ear or make a joke whatever was needed. She is truly dearly missed.
