Aretha A. Atwater, 57, of Carbon Cliff, formerly of East Moline, passed away Tuesday November 17, 2020 at Genesis Medical Center Illini Campus, Silvis.
A Livestreamed Service will be broadcast on Monday November 23, 2020 at 5:00pm at www.wheelanpressly.com/live-stream. Memorials may be left to the family.
Aretha was born March 5, 1963 in Cooter, MO., the daughter of Percy and Gladys Atwater.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Jordan Atwater, Christine Atwater; parents, Percy and Gladys; grandchildren, Tristan and Akhari; siblings, Ann (Tony) Perry, Marla Atwater and Chris Atwater; nephews, Kairee, Dominique and Jalen.

To the Atwater family may your pain be soften knowing Aretha touched so many lives. I often think about those rides back and forth from western Illinois in Macomb. She kept me laughing. Aretha you will be missed.

Rest in Heaven my dear friend Aretha. In junior high this young lady and I were buddies. She sat with me at lunch everyday. She knew I was being bullied by the mean girls of East Moline and decided to take me under her wing. We would laugh together and I would ride my bike to her house in the summer of 1977 everyday. We would try to hide in the locker room during gym class so we could avoid the embarrassment of our lack of skills in most sports. Forever in my heart. Love ya lady. Shine on in HIS glory.
