WHEATLAND-Bonnie J. Gorsh, 82, a resident of Wheatland, Iowa, formerly of Long Grove, Iowa died on Saturday, July 4, 2020 in Davenport, Iowa with her family by her side.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wheatland. Burial will follow at Long Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge, Iowa and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family for a memorial fund to be established.
She was born October 16, 1937 in Lancaster, Iowa, the daughter of Holland and Grace (Wallerich) Gilliland. On October 20, 1956, she married to Donald L. Gorsh in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 30, 2001.
Bonnie retired from the Rock Island Arsenal in 1988.
In the North Scott area, she was a leader in 4-H. She and her husband started the Mississippi Valley Softball League, building a softballaseball field on the farm and coached. Bonnie volunteered for over 20 years at the Carroll Assistance Center and was a Boy Scout leader. She enjoyed helping others, being with family and friends and traveling.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Victor (Michele) Gorsh of Long Grove, Char (William) Lingle of Davenport, Ricky (Tami) Gorsh of Blue Grass, Charlene Burns (Brian Schlussel) of Wheatland; step-daughter, Joyce (Delbert) King of Marengo; her brother, David Gilliland and her sister, Joyce Hahn, both of Sigourney, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; and12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Cindy; and brother, Donnie Gilliland.
