Calvin A.F. Morrow, Sr., "Dawg" 47, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away from heart complications on Sunday January 17, 2021 at home.
Private services will be held at a later date. Contact family for details. Private burial, with military honors presented by VVA Chapter 299, at National Cemetery, Rock Island. Arrangements are entrusted to Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. In accordance with current public gathering guidelines, face masks, social distancing and capacity limitations are to be observed.
Calvin was born December 27, 1973 in Moline, IL, the first-born son of Calvin L. and Dorothy (Thomas) Morrow. He married Karen L. Paustian on May 25, 1996 in Davenport. Calvin and Karen had 2 biological children (Makayla and Calvin Jr); but over the years he was a father figure to many kids.
Calvin honorably served in the U.S. Army from August 1995 to April 1998 when he was honorably discharged after complications from a training accident.
An ultimate sports fan and athlete, Calvin was a softball player on the Q.C. Crush, Hooters and Sneaky Pete's during their National Championship run in Kansas City 2006 "oooo weeee". He was also an A.A.U. basketball coach for the "Swish" and "Showtime" for five years. He was an avid fan of every sport; his favorite teams being the Vikings and the Yankees. His most cherished moments were watching his daughter play volleyball and softball; watching and coaching his son in baseball and basketball; and watching Kung-Fu movies with his granddaughter.
Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Karen, of Davenport; children, Makayla, Calvin Morrow, Jr. and Melech Johnson, all of Davenport; granddaughter, Briella Belz; mother and stepfather, Dorothy and J.W. Doshe, Davenport; siblings, Giovonnte Morrow, Ankeny, IA, Danielle Robinson, Georgia, LaVon Morrow, Davenport, Manuel (Nadia) Morrow, Denver, CO and Amy Soseman, Moline; and a host of nieces, nephews and additional family.
Calvin was preceded in death by his Father; Grandpa Chicken, Grandma Eloise Walker, Grandma Dell, Grandpa Emanuel Morrow and Grandma Lillie Bell Morrow.

Calvin was a good guy, we grew up on the same block while attending jr high & high school. I want to send my prayers to and condolences to the Morrow family. May god place his healing hand around the family.

I will always remember Calvin standing tall and proud in his Army uniform, he stood tall and muscular. He was a Good man with a beautiful smile and kindheart. My condolences along with my thoughts and prayers are with the Morrow family.
