July 12, 1939 - October 28, 2025
Carl Heinz Meier, 86, went home to his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday afternoon, October 28, 2025, at MercyOne Genesis in Davenport, surrounded by his loving wife, Beverly, and daughter, Kristi.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 3834 Rockingham Road in Davenport. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Immediately following, the family invites everyone to join them for a luncheon in Schember Hall at the church. After the luncheon, Carl will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park. Memorial Contributions may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Carl was born on July 12, 1939, in Moline, IL, the son of Henry and Viola (Bendt) Meier. He was raised on a farm in Davenport, where he lived since childhood. Carl attended Linwood School and graduated from Davenport High School in 1958.
He was united in marriage to Beverly J. Haugen, affectionately known to him as "BJ," on August 18, 1962. The couple lived in Ames, IA while Carl attended Iowa State University where he graduated in 1964 with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
Carl earned his pilot's license while still in high school and loved flying his Cessna 337 airplane, taking his family on memorable trips across the country.
He worked as a professional engineer for Eagle Signal and Control Process, and later retired from HWH Corporation in Tipton, Iowa, in 1999. Alongside his career, Carl farmed the family land for many years and took great pride in planting and harvesting his crops.
For 20 years, Carl and Bev spent their winters in Mission, TX, enjoying the warmth and friendships they found there. A longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, he faithfully served as an elder and finance manager.
Carl's greatest joy was time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren-each one deeply loved. His life was a reflection of his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, his rock and sure foundation.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 63 years, Beverly Meier; their four children, Kevin (Mardell) Meier, Kari (Dave) Duncan, Doug (Rita) Meier, and Kristi (Jim) Gibson; twelve grandchildren, Brice (Courtney), Brandon, Blake, Paige (Mike), Heather (Darrick), Britney (Jake), Travis (Stacey), Cody (Chaise), Hailey, Kasi (Garrett), Megan (Alex), and Carl James "CJ"; and 13 great-grandchildren, Brody, Khloe, Demiana, Evan, Ava, Alaya, Zayden, Ariel, Gabriel, Kinley, Axel, Izzy, and a baby girl expected in February.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bev's parents; his brother, John; his sister, Marianne; and three brothers-in-law.
