Charlotte Moldenhauer Obituary

Charlotte Diane Moldenhauer

June 30, 1941 - February 20, 2025

Charlotte passed away on February 20 after a brave battle with leukemia at the age of 83. She was born on June 30, 1941, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, the youngest of eleven children, to William and Annie Hazelwanter. At just 15 years old, Charlotte met the love of her life, Wayne Moldenhauer, and the two married in 1960 in Saskatoon. They built a beautiful life together and were looking forward to celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary this June. Charlotte's greatest joy in life was being a mother. She and Wayne were blessed with three wonderful daughters, who were her pride and joy. In 1970, the family moved from Canada to Davenport, Iowa, where Charlotte devoted herself to raising her children with boundless love and care. Charlotte was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, where she was deeply involved in the community. She served as a chairperson for the annual bazaar, sang in the choir, and eagerly volunteered whenever she was needed. Her faith and generosity were guiding forces in her life. After retiring, Charlotte and Wayne joined CASI making incredible friends and sharing joyful memories. She had a deep love for adventure. She became a world traveler, exploring Canada, visiting relatives in Austria and Australia, cruising through the Caribbean and Alaska, and taking a river cruise through Europe. Charlotte never met a stranger, she quickly became friends with everyone she encountered. She was funny, kind, and generous, always bringing warmth and laughter into every room. Her children will forever remember growing up with an unlimited supply of her delicious home-baked cookies, a simple but meaningful reminder of her love. Charlotte is survived by her beloved husband, Wayne, and her daughters: Leanna (Michael) Donald, Lisa (Jeff) Davis, and Landra (Steve) Fair. She was a loving grandmother to Alex (Samantha) Donald, Zac (Larry Hill) Donald, Devin (Trever) Ellis, Sydney (Philip) Dingmann, Bryan and Mitchell (Niki) Fournier, and Elsa and Raina Fair, and four greatgrandchildren: Laina, Blake, Amelia, and Allison. The visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. On Monday, February 24 at Our Lady of Victory Church, followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m. and then a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital in her memory.

Auntie Charlotte was so special and always had a way of lighting up every room she entered. I was always so excited if I knew I would have a chance to see your parents at mom´s house. Auntie´s funeral was so beautiful - what a wonderful tribute. Sending prayers of comfort and love to the whole family

My heart is breaking, for you the family. Charlotte was someone who made every feel like you were her friend. And you were. And i just did her hair. It's sad I lost contact with her. I wish I would have stopped at the house and said , hi to her, and caught up on how everyone was doing.

Charlotte always had a warm smile and kind greeting whenever I would see her. She did so many things to make the Bazaar a success for so many years. Rest in peace Charlotte.

Charlotte didn´t just take care of her own kids, she took care of a whole neighborhood of kids and certainly took good care of me. I will never forget her. She was one of the kindest people I have ever known.

Charlotte will always have a very special place in my heart. She took me under her wing when I joined the OLV choir 30+ years ago. She was like my second mom. She was always so caring and generous to all she met. I will miss her deeply. She was an amazing lady. May you Rest Peacefully in His Arms, my dear friend. Jennie Serrurier

I met Charlotte when my son Joel was 3 and she babysat him. When I dropped him off I remember being concerned about him and she said...just go he'll be fine ...and he sure was..
I helped Charlotte for over 20 years with the church bazaar. She was such a caring person. I'll definitely miss her...
