Master Sergeant (Ret.) Dale E. Wiese
September 7, 1932-November 1, 2021
Master Sergeant (Ret.) Dale E. Wiese passed away on November 1, 2021 at Genesis East Medical Center, after an extended illness. Visitation will be at Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge on Friday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with services following at 11:00 a.m.
Mr. Wiese was born on the family farm near Donahue, Iowa, September 7, 1932, to Elmer and Leah (Hesse) Wiese. He was the oldest of six children. Dale farmed with his father until 1952 when he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.
Dale married Peggy Jean Britton of Dixon, Iowa, on June 6, 1954. They were happily married for 60 years until she passed on February 5, 2015. They will be buried together at Rock Island National Cemetery.
He served in the Air Force for 20 years, serving tours around the world. He was an aircraft crew chief on B-47 bombers, an instructor, and finally a command-and-control specialist. After retiring, Dale was an insurance agent and truck driver. He loved wood working, Hereford cattle, and model railroading, but mostly, he loved his family. He belonged to the American Legion, The Retired Enlisted Association, and was a lifelong member of the Handyman Club of America.
Dale is survived by his children, Douglas of Wheatland, Pamela of Mt Joy, Dean (Deb) of Rock Island, and Jennifer (David) Lineback of Eldridge; nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren; brothers, Merle (Dianna) of Eldridge, Gary of Donahue, and Jerry of Council Bluffs, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Joyce Corken of Davenport, and Barb Wiebel of Wheatland; and very good friend, Doris Smith of Kirksville, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy; parents and in-laws; daughter-in-law, Tonya Wiese; sister, Carole Stuhr; brother, Eldon Wiese; and brother-in-law, Joe Corken.
